MELBOURNE, SERVICED OFFICES. On Thursday 16th June, our CEO Jenny Folley managing director of CEO serviced offices located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Manila, Bahrain and 700 locations world wide, together with several other CEO's and business leaders such as former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, braved the elements in Melbourne at the Etihad Stadium, to experience homelessness first hand, for a night, to help raise money and awareness of homeless people.
"The experience was invaluable" said Jenny Folley. "it gave us all a first hand experience of what over 105,000 men, women and children who sleep out across Australia each night must go through", she said. "The night was freezing cold. We were given two sheets of cardboard to sleep on. I put my sheets of cardboard on the hard concrete floor after finding a sheltered spot from the piercing wind, and arranged my sleeping bag against a wall. I was completely rugged up with ugg boots and all. Having never slept in a sleeping bag before ever, it was certainly a first and very unpleasant and torturous experience. It was so cold that despite being completely rugged up with several layers of warm clothing, scarf, gloves, hat and ugg boots and in a "sub zero" sleeping bag, the cold came right through the concrete floor through those 2 sheets of cardboard, through the sleeping bag and those ugg boots and warm clothes and right through my bones. I tossed and turned right through the night, and it was complete torture. Every bone in my body hurt, I discovered i had bones in my body i never knew I had because they ached so much".
So what must our homeless go through every night?
